Back to it! Happy Monday, all.
An article of mine was posted over at C-VILLE Weekly's Art Picks page, check it out here if you like.
As you can see from my phone-fotos, this weekend I had the pleasure of seeing Chihuly's glass works at the VMFA. If you have yet to see it, do. Worth the time, though it is a test of self-restraint for those of us who fight strong desires to touch and visually inspect every side of every thing (maybe that's just me). I think it goes without saying the entire exhibition supplies one great photo-opportunity after another. I love what glass can do... Chihuly uses organic, undulating forms to create sensual and strong pieces of sculpture with such a delicate medium.
Eventually stumbled into Judith Godwin's Gesture show as well. We did not expect it to be tucked away near tapestries and masks but we found it, by gum. I admit I was too excited to be surrounded by such large canvases to whip out the phonecam. And how can I forget about Diana Al-Hadid's installation Trace of a Fictional Third?
I must make another trip before all of this good stuff ends.
